Robert Sussman, joint CEO, Integr8 Group

Q: How do you think technology in your sector is benefitting the country?

A: I believe information, communication and digital lifestyle technology, with specific reference to managed ICT services, continues to play a major role – possibly the most important – in the socio-economic development of the country.

The level of technology infrastructure and support now available, particularly in terms of virtual-based services, underpins the fabric of inter-business communication and commercial engagement.

Today, South African businesses of all sizes, irrespective of focus or target markets, rely on infrastructure to effectively compete. There is a realisation and application of many levels of technology management , be it outsourcing, of co-sourcing and of self-ownership.

This bodes well for the country at large, especially if one considers the necessity of infrastructure and updated systems at government services level. The key point to bear in mind is that technology represents the gateway to skills development, training, job creation and economic improvement – all of which are fundamental to the very basic foundation structure of the country.

Q: What do you love most about your job?

A: I would have to say the gratification in knowing that each day, as a result of commitment, drive, dedication and hard work, I am making a difference to the commercial and, ultimately social, welfare of the country.

I enjoy my job, I love the challenges it brings, the energy that is required to lead a progressive, established and well respected modern ICT organisation into existing and emerging marketplaces.
